Borrowing the name of the roman military unit, this is the first of the brand’s hotels. Located in an old office building, in the heart of Athens, the four star hotel aims to transcend the contemporary approach to hotel design. The six floor building is extensively reinforced and renovated in order to accommodate 100 bed spaces, along with a co-working place, shared amenities, a gym and many outdoor common areas. The needs of the new uses dictated bold architectural movements and heavy structural reinforcement.
The two existing building volumes are connected through a steel bridge and staircase. The front façade is elongated and the existing grid of the slabs and columns is revealed by creating big openings with balconies and folding panels.
